Angie and Sam are one of the many fantastic couples I now have the pleasure of working with thanks to my feature on Offbeat Bride this Spring! I took their Lafayette engagement photos about a week ago at Three Leaf Farm, one of my favorite places to work at. They often allow photographers to use their property, provided you contact the owner and pay the required fee. I feel super lucky to be able to work with them on all kinds of events. The farm is a really fun place to go too. They have baby pigmy goats again this year, chickens, horses, ponies, and all kinds of great spots for photos!
When I met Angie and Sam at their wedding consult we talked about how great their wedding is going to be at the big red barn picnic area up in Golden Gate Cany0n State Park this August. I am so excited to photograph them, get to know their families and have a bite of that yummy roast pig at their reception! Angie and Sam are really amazing, relaxed and kind people. They made my job an easy one. I gave them a quick tour of the farm, we took a few more traditional photos and even got down and did some silly ones in the “secret garden” too. I love it when my clients are comfortable just being themselves, fun, silly, relaxed, geeky, nerdy, excited or whatever that means. Photos are so much more authentic when you get to be yourself!
We talked about all kinds of things during the photo session, including that the last time they were probably professionally photographed was their senior high school photos. Trust me, most people don’t make it a habit of being professionally photographed – except photographers, and even then we can be some of the worst clients! Angie and Sam were just naturals in front of the camera. I loved the photos I got of them jumping, hiding behind the garden sign, laughing, talking, telling jokes and just having a great time!
