Amber and Chelsea’s LGBTQ+ wedding at Chief Hosa Lodge was an amazing day! Upon arrival, guests enjoyed drinks on the deck where they could select a unique mismatched glass from a ladder with shelves behind the bar. Amber and Chelsea’s love of a good drink and excellent bar was apparent right away. Guests arrived in all kinds of amazing fabrics, velvets, furs, and more that were an array of shades to mimic Fall foliage. From the fashionable shoes to the extra fashionable guests I was already finding myself underdressed and inspired. Who doesn’t love a good velvet dress?
The ceremony was officiated by their friend who told us a few stories about Amber and Chelsea as a couple. Those are the stories I love most in ceremonies. When you come to the wedding as a photographer you are often the outsider and don’t know the history. These stories give us so much insight into our clients and their friends and family. A great deal of laughter occurred throughout the ceremony and that led to group photos with friends. Instead of having a large wedding party, Amber and Chelsea had all of their closest friends wear Fall colors and together we pretended they were Fall foliage from the east coast as we replicated one of Amber and Chelsea’s favorite images of themselves as a couple. Their friends were an amazing group. They were also in charge of creating the evening’s playlist which had everyone dancing. I caught quite a few reception photos from the dance floor that still make me smile.
I’m so grateful to be able to photograph weddings like this where the clients and guests are just fun, kind and great to be around. To top it off, the couple was also wonderfully kind and made us feel welcomed and like part of the group!
